Modi’s Pulwama Drama: The Hindutva Politics and Regional Peace

The recent comment by the former governor of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK), Mr. Satyapal Malik, regarding the Pulwama incident has exposed the RSS regime of Modi wide open. Mr. Malik, in his interview with the WIRE, said that “I told the Prime Minister after the attack that it happened due to our fault. Had we given the aircraft, this wouldn’t have happened. To which he told me that I should keep quiet now.” This statement is none other than the expression of the promotion of the Hindutva agenda by the RSS regime of Modi in piling an excuse to blame Pakistan for the action it did not play a part in. The current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the political face of the RSS, which is staunchly promoting its hatred towards Muslims and Pakistan in this advanced and modern 21st century. Over the years, the Indian government has used false flag operations and propaganda campaigns against Pakistan to malign its image in the international community.

India is a master of false flag operations against Pakistan and maligning its international image. The Pulwama incident in 2019 was used by BJP to win polls in Lok Sabha. It was ingenious of Modi to put the lives of 40 security personnel on the line in danger and ultimately killed to make an excuse of blaming Pakistan for the incident. In response, the Indian airstrike in Balakot and Pakistan in retaliation shot down at least one fighter jet of the Indian air force. It can be concluded safely that the RSS regime of Modi has used the Pulwama incident as a political tool to gain victory in the 2019 polls of Lok Sabha. Not only this but recently Pakistan’s intelligence agency unraveled another false flag operation by the Modi-led government days before the fourth anniversary of the Pulwama incident. The plot consisted of attacks on military installations under the gambit to blame the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Even more, the atrocities of the Modi-led BJP government in Kashmir and Muslim residents are not hidden from anyone. Since the inception from 1947, Indian armed forces have brutally murdered innocent Kashmiris that demand their due rights. The situation further worsened when the BJP government annulled articles 370 and 35(A) and became a certified occupying force. Consequently, the life of Kashmiris has become hell on earth. This step by the Indian government has endangered the lives of Kashmir Muslims to become a minority by changing the Muslim-majority into a Hindu-majority region. This is a systematic ethnic cleansing of the Kashmiri Muslims. It is also important to understand that religious freedom in India has taken a drastic turn downwards under Modi. The US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) for the first time since 2004 accused the ruling party BJP of its discrimination against minorities and allowing violence towards them with impunity and designated India a country of particular concern. Despite this, the former President of the US Mr. Trump said, “US and India are combating radical Islamic terrorism and Modi wants people to have religious freedom strongly.”

Apart from all this, India has always managed to portray the image of Pakistan as a terrorist state, which is baseless and placed on false propaganda. The report of EU DisinfoLab clearly showed the intense part of India in narrating false campaigns against Pakistan, influencing EU countries and US public opinion. Such propaganda by India is tarnishing the strategic importance of Pakistan in Asia and the peaceful nature of Pakistani people.

India needs to stop these acts as being a nuclear country it is not wise to carry out such harsh policies, and propaganda campaigns against a similar nuclear country. The Balakot incident was a mere escape from a nuclear war. If both countries were to exchange nuclear bombs after the incident, it would have proven to be fatal in consequence for both countries. It would have also affected the world without distinguishing between the borders. It is also pertinent for the international community to understand the geographic, cultural, and historic differences between Pakistan and India and play a part in resolving the tensions between the South Asian nuclear rivals. On the part of Pakistan’s and India’s governments, they should acknowledge the example of Europe, which fought two wars, killed millions of people, and is now a union supporting each other in every aspect of life. Pakistan, India, Iran, and Afghanistan need to bring about a similar union of cooperation to make this region’s development sustainable.
